Love Fulfills God's Requirements
Owe nothing to anyone - except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God's law. For the commandments say, "You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet." These - and other such commandments - are summed up in this one commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God's law. - Romans 13:8-10 (NLT)
Walking in Love
The words of wisdom that I shared by Joyce Meyer is from part one of a podcast called "Love Builds Up." In that podcast she talks about how we need to set out each day purposefully walking in love. It's like deciding to go for a walk. You can choose to take a couple of steps and then turn around, or you can choose to put one foot in front of the other and continue walking.
It's a choice.
And sometimes it's not an easy choice (especially if it's cold outside and you're sleepy!).
In the same way, loving one another, is a choice. And sometimes it's not easy. Often times the people we are trying to love aren't behaving in a way that makes us want to love them at all! But, usually, that's when they need our love the most.
Or you may be one of those folks who needs that love and aren't being so lovable because you're in a world of hurt and are having trouble just opening your eyes and making it through the day. It's at these times we truly have to choose to make that first step out in love.
Give away what you want...to get what you need!
Give love.
Show love.
Live love.
It will be returned to you, I promise! I can promise you this with complete confidence. God is love and He will make sure you feel Him if you are following His will and His commandment to love.
Dear Lord - Thank you for the reminder that I need to give love first. Recently I've been withholding my love because I felt it was under-appreciated and not really wanted. Unfortunately, this just served to isolate me and keep me from receiving what I really needed...love! Please help me to be generous with my caring and loving heart. Please help me understand that I may not get back love the way I want it, but it will be returned to me how I need it. And it may not be from the same person I show love to. No expectations from people...only complete confidence in You. I will sow my seeds of love and believe in your harvest, Lord! I can afford to love others with no expectations, because I am filled to the brim with your love! I love you so very much. Amen.
